a new outfit

He's mad I took his binkie out.

My good friend Jamie dropped by today to visit. She brought this super cute outfit for Banks and of course we had to try it on. Minutes after these pictures were taken he threw up all over the new outfit. Dang.
Another one bites the dust. Outfit count for the day...3.
I feel sorry for everyone who is getting tired of the endless baby pictures. It's just that he is pretty much the best thing in our lives right now and we just can't get enough of him.
ON another note I thought I might share my first timer thought on birth and the after effect.
Two main points:
It was a doosy.
Epidurals are heaven sent.
I was a week late as we know and was going to be induced that Sunday night. However, early (like 2 am ish) Sunday morning I started cramping real bad. Within 15 minutes they were 2-3 minutes apart so we packed up and headed to the Hospital. By 4 am I was hooked up and ready to go. Sadly the pushing didn't start till about 6:30 pm, and lasted till about 9 pm. Yep. 2.5 hours. at one point I seriously thought to myself, I can't do this anymore...that was 20 minutes in. Nothing could have prepared me for how hard the pushing was. I was completely numb thanks to the epidural but that meant that I couldn't focus my pushing where I needed to because I could not feel a thing. Two hours into the pushing frenzy forceps were used and Bank's was out within 30 minutes. No one was expecting him to weigh 9 lbs and because of that I tore real bad. Plus, pieces of the placenta had torn and were still hanging out inside so the whole clean up process took about an hour.
Recovery.
The first 10 days after the birth were pretty intense. The pain was unlike anything I have ever experienced, and that's with all the meds I was on. Like I said, it was a doosy. Going to the bathroom became my worst nightmare and walking brought tears to my eyes, but guess what...I'd do it all again/ I will do it all again.
This was just my experience so don't be afraid all you pregos out there, hopefully it'll be better for you. It really is totally worth it because what you get after makes you almost forget all the hard parts to get that point when you hold your little one for the first time.

2 weeks

Dear Banks,

You are 2 weeks old today.
We are obsessed with you.
Everything you do is cute....except for all the poopy diapers you leave for us. We understand though. Thank you for coming to our family. We just love you to pieces.

Love,
Mom & Dad

tan man

Banks is tan.
A little too tan I guess.
He's been sleeping in a suitcase with special lights in it to help with his jaundice. He's doing a lot better today and will be back in his crib by tomorrow. I love how he barely even fits in there. He wouldn't if he tried to stretch his legs out. I guess I make'em big. Mom always said, "go big, or go home."

We've been having so much fun with this little guy. Last night when I was up feeding him I was so happy to be doing just that. Even though I was tired, I can honestly say I wasn't wishing I was in my bed. At one point I was burping him and he held his head up and just stared at me for a good 2 minutes. Pretty sweet.

I love this Mom thing.

Dear Banks,

still prego

I wish I had exciting news for you...but alas... I do not.
Apparently I've been having those braxton hicks contractions every now and then. For some reason I thought those were supposed to hurt so I always discounted the tightness I was feeling as the baby relocating. Thankfully, Michael knows a little more about this whole prego thing than I do. Other than a few wee practice contractions every now and then, we're still a single unit. I would love to have a little 4th of July baby so here's to hopin he comes tomorrow.

Happy 4th of July!

close or no cigar?

Got a hair cut today. I love hair cut days.
This was my inspiration.

photo of the week

I wish I could sit out these last few days on this beach in St. Lucia. We happened upon this little paradise back in 2008 while on a cruise. Black sand beach, the best snorkeling, and warmy waters. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
